Dubai's humidity is what breaks most caps. Coastal humidity means sweat does not evaporate quickly, so a cotton crown holds moisture against your head. The DWR finish sheds it instead, and the vents keep air moving. It is water-repellent rather than waterproof on purpose — a sealed cap would trap heat, which is the opposite of useful here.
